Get to know who we are and what we’re all about

Our History

Monterey Park Foursquare Church was chartered in September of 1948 and continued with that name until the 60’s when East Los Angeles Foursquare church merged with it, and it became the United Foursquare Church of Monterey Park. Later, in the late 60’s the name transitioned to Monterey Park Christian Center and a new facility was built around 1964.

In the early 2000’s the name was changed again to Praise Alive Worship Center and remained until 2018 when it transitioned to Union Church Los Angeles, now known as Union Church.

Pastors Greg and Julie Baez became pastors as of November 20, 2022, and continue the legacy of reaching Monterey Park for Jesus with bible-based teachings, spirit-filled messages, and compassionate community outreach.

Join us on this journey as we worship Jesus together.

Our Beliefs

We believe we are called as a church to do the following:

Lead people to Jesus

Sharing Jesus with others is the heart of this church. Jesus came so that everyone can have eternal life with him.

According to John 17:3, “This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”

Disciple believers

After finding faith in Jesus, growing in your faith is the next step. Spending time in prayer, the word, and community is part of the journey. We want to help you grow in your commitment to Jesus.

“Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God-this is your true and proper worship.” Romans 12:1

Meet the practical needs of our city

Our desire is to love our community practically. LOVE Angeles has been established as a form of “Love in Action” – an on-going outreach to serve our community. With love, compassion, and sincerity we want to give generously.

In everything I showed you that by working hard in this manner you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35

Develop pastors and leaders

Developing pastors and leaders for the commission of God.

God has a call on everyone’s life, and it will look different for each of us. If you feel called and commissioned to pursue further growth, we believe that through prayer, a leadership development process, support, and evaluation, you can be equipped to lead others.

No matter how you fit in, we believe we are all commissioned.

“And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ.” Ephesians 4:11-12

Send people globally

Some will be called to go and share the good news with others globally. We want to support, equip, and send people to the ends of the earth.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

The Church will only approve or officiate unions between a man and a woman. According to religious teachings, marriage was established by God as the fundamental institution for families and the core structure of human society, as stated in Genesis 2:24. It is emphasized that any form of intimate sexual activity is only permissible within the confines of a marriage between a man and a woman, as specified in various biblical passages (Genesis 19:5, 26:8‑11; Leviticus 18:1‑30; Romans 1:26‑29; 1 Corinthians 5:1, 6:9; 1 Thessalonians 4:1‑8; Hebrews 13:4). Additionally, it is believed that God has intentionally and unchangeably created each individual as either male or female, and these two distinct and complementary genders together reflect the image and essence of God, as described in Genesis 1:26-27.
